Selim Birsel (born 1963, Brussels) is a multidisciplinary artists. He is living and working in Istanbul and in Volissos.
His work is characterized by an eclectic range of approaches such as drawing, painting, installation, photography, video, performance to public interventions. He is incorporating a poetic way on unconventional materials such as dust, stamps, spice, found objects…
Birsel worked as lecturer in Bilkent University from 1993 to 1999 and incorporated Sabanci University since 1999 and now on, where he is teaching Art Studios in Visual Art (undergraduate and master degree) classes. He is also involved in curating since 1991 in divers’ projects and institutions; Responsible for organizing Sabancı University KASA GALLERY from 1999 to now on and he is a directing member of BJCEM since 1999.
Since 1990, he is exhibiting his works in national and international shows.
